Dymond makes it a clean sweep at Shenington,

On his now regular return to karting Chris made a small piece of personal history at the August meeting of the Shenington kart club.

Chris won all 3 qualifying heats and the final making it a clean sweep for the weekend, something he hasn’t done for over 10 years since he stopped karting to focus on car racing and a feat he didn’t achieve during his time at the club in the early to mid 2000’s .

Racing in the highly competitive TKM class for 100cc direct drive machines, Dymonds heat draws saw him start from a different position in each heat, a last, a mid pack placing and a pole position.

Dymond showed his speed and race craft by commandingly taking position after position in each heat to leave him with a perfect score and pole position for the longer, points paying final.

“The heats were great fun; it was superb having some proper, close, hard yet fair racing. Something that has been hard to find in karting recently! Its all to do in the final now, starting from pole though should make life a touch easier.”

As the karts lined up on the grid for final the typical English summer threatened to draw in, with spits of rain in the air and ever darker skies over head leaving the competitors to second guess what might happen.

“To be honest I wasn’t worried, it got to the point where everyone had to commit to a tyre [Wet or dry] and we were all in the same boat, I knew that if it did rain and were all out on slicks I would actually be in an even stronger position as I showed last year in exactly that situation, I drove away from the field!”

The final got underway with every driver on slick tyres and track remained dry throughout, Dymond quickly broke the main pack of his competitors and set about racing the grid of faster karts [on paper] and making a gap. At the end of the 12 lap final Dymond was nearly 3seconds clear of nearest rival and half way up the TKM extreme result sheet!

“It feels fantastic to get this win and sweep the weekend, the kart has felt great all weekend and I feel like this result has been well deserved, I was driving well, the weather held off and we ended up with a pretty convincing win!

Thanks to all my Sponsors, Spin, NUUN, Teng Tools, Fenwicks, iRacing, Reflex nutrition and Alpha sport psychology, they’ve been fantastic in supporting me and giving me the best stuff to be able to perform like I did this weekend! ”
